Roche Harbor Wedding | Kim + Mark (1/2)

I first met Kim and Mark at two weddings I photographed of their friends. When we met again to discuss their wedding plans they hadn’t decided between Seattle or the San Juan Islands for their wedding location. I am guilty of stating my preference for a destination wedding to the Islands, which they eventually decided to do! A side note: my husband and I were married on Orcas Island (just a hop, skip, and a ferry ride away!) five years ago. Since then I have photographed numerous weddings across the Islands and I love every opportunity to visit.

The couple were wed at Roche Harbor which is the most GORGEOUS postcard perfect place I have ever worked at. When I entered Kim’s room, I focused on her wedding gown – a little longer than ballet length but high enough to show off her shoes – which was so so cute and suits Kim perfectly. Every other little detail was also too-good-to-be-true!

When Kim and I rode up in a golf cart for their “first look,” Mark had wandered away from his designated spot and accidentally saw her pull up — not as planned but I still captured the moment he saw his bride. His reaction was priceless as he didn’t realize he had strayed from the plan. He just couldn’t help but keep his eyes on Kim, who looked beautiful! We then meandered around getting photos of the couple and wedding party. The weather was exactly what they’d hoped for — not too sunny but not a single rain drop either.
